Shine a Light Alabama is a community-based effort of remembrance, resilience, and healing from losses experienced during the pandemic. 

Since January 2020, nearly 1,000,000 Americans have lost their lives to COVID-19. In Alabama, we’ve lost over 19,000 parents, spouses, children, and friends due to COVID-19.

Alabama has the 4th highest COVID-19 death rate in the nation

By the time I was discharged, my mom didn’t think I was physically well enough to attend the service. I was able to watch it by Facebook Live, but of course, that wasn’t the same. I want to honor his memory by continuing to be an uncle to his three sons, my nephews. That’s what he would have wanted.
